The trumpet studio at the Eastman School of Music is focused on creating a community of trumpet students working together to make great music and achieve the goals that students set forth. Helping in that journey are several opportunities to learn. Every student has weekly lessons that are primarily with Professor of trumpet, Andrew McCandless.
Students are also able to learn from the expertise of Wes Nance, second trumpet of the Rochester Philharmonic orchestra who is the brass chamber music coordinator as well as an excellent teacher. Another opportunity for trumpet student at Eastman is the opportunity to work with Jared Wallis, assistant professor of baroque trumpet. Professor Wallis offers private baroque trumpet lessons as well as a baroque trumpet ensemble.
In addition to weekly lessons there is also a weekly studio class. Each class is based on a specific topic with the goal of having students play as much as possible
