Congratulations to Jacob Eichhorn, a PhD candidate in Music Theory, for winning the 2025 Dorothy Payne Award, named for alumna and legendary former Eastman professor Dorothy Payne ’56E, ’67E (MM), ’74E (DMA). This award is given annually to the best student paper delivered at The Music Theory Society of the Mid-Atlantic conference. Jacob’s winning paper is entitled “Twelve-Tone as Topic: Satire, Politics, and Postwar American Concert Music.”
