EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC PROGRAM
Laura Turley, director
This program is our new Summer Session offering of our school year Early Childhood program. The 5 weekly classes are 45 minutes each, and the student will be placed in either the 9 a.m., 10 a.m., or 11 a.m. slot for their age group.
GUITAR INTENSIVE WORKSHOP
Lynn McGrath, instructor
In this workshop for guitarists of all levels (entering 6th grade through 9th), participants will explore making music on the acoustic guitar as both soloists and ensemble members. Students will develop new skills and a deeper understanding of music through an exploration of multiple styles of guitar music (classical, blues, rock, and more).
HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ WORKSHOP
Jeff Campbell, director
This is a new take on our Eastman Experience: Summer Jazz Studies program, but redesigned as a week-long day camp for local high school students. This rigorous program provides an intensive, performance-based experience for highly motivated students currently in grades 9–12 and is ideally suited for those considering jazz studies at the collegiate level.
KEYBOARD EXPLORATIONS II (for high school pianists)
Howard Spindler and Ke’er Wang, directors
After great success with the middle school Keyboard Explorations program, this year we added a one-week intensive program for high schoolers. It will have the same features to the original version, but at a pre-collegiate level. There will also be a final performance and a masterclass with a world-renowned piano artist.
SUMMER STUDIO ORCHESTRA
Jonathan Allentoff, director
Open to all area players of orchestral instruments, the Eastman Summer Studio Orchestra celebrates Rochester’s contributions to Hollywood history. The ensemble will rehearse and perform a variety of film scores, new studio compositions, and popular songs from the Great American Songbook with special appearances by guest vocal artists.
