Eastman School of Music students may use this form to request to add/drop or withdraw classes if outside of the normal add/drop period. Instructor Permissions: For any course registration change request that requires instructor permission or a time conflict resolution, the student must provide the instructor permission to the Registrar's Office via email at registrar@esm.rochester.edu or through uploading the permission at the end of this form. Credit load: Requests for credit overloads above 23 units or credit underloads below 12 units will be directed to the Office of Academic Affairs for review (undergraduate). Credit overload requests may be denied if a student does not meet eligibility requirements: cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above; not currently on academic probation; no incomplete "I" grades from previous semesters; and total credit load will not exceed 28 units. Undergraduate students requesting to drop or withdraw from courses that bring their credit load below 12 units is not permitted and students must contact the Office of Academic Affairs for exceptions. Course Add/Drop: Students can add and drop classes in UR Student from when registration opens though the second week of the semester. Starting in the third week through the end of the fourth week of the semester, students must use the electronic add/drop form to add a class. Students may drop classes in UR Student up until the end of the fourth week of the semester. Course Withdrawals: After the fourth week of the semester and up until the eleventh week of the semester, students are eligible to withdraw from one or more courses. A notation of "W" will be recorded on the transcript instead of a letter grade. Withdrawals (or drops) from one or more courses may impact graduation plans, financial aid, and for international students - visa compliance. Students are advised to discuss their plans for course withdraw with their faculty or advisor.
