PRE-SCREENING AND AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate
Voice Pre-screening video requirement: By the application deadline, all applicants in voice (regardless of major) must upload a video pre-screen video recording. Your selections should be recorded with accompaniment. Acceptable accompaniment options include: in-person accompanist (preferred), a high-quality piano accompanying app, pre-recorded accompaniment tracks (ideally from an accompanist you have worked with), or self-accompaniment at the piano. Please use your judgment and select the best accompaniment option that is available to you. Record each of your selections in a separate, unedited track.
Pre-screen recordings should include:
- a short introduction on a separate track in which you state your name, the recording date (or dates), and list the selections recorded.
- Three pieces in varying musical styles, in three different languages, one of which may be English. Non-native speakers of English must perform one piece in English.
Voice audition requirements: Applicants who successfully pass the pre-screening round will subsequently audition either in person in Rochester or by uploading a final audition video no later than February 1. In either case, the repertoire requirements for the audition are the same as for the prescreening round (see above). You may use the same selections for both the pre-screening and audition rounds if you wish, or you can choose different repertoire.
