2025 Rochester Audition Dates:
On-Campus Audition Dates: Fridays, February 14, 21, and 28
Remote Audition Dates: Fridays, February 7 and 14
2025 Remote Audition Option: Applicants who would like to audition virtually should upload their pre-screening requirements within their application by December 1st. If approved, finalists will perform their final audition over zoom in February 2025.
PRE-SCREENING AND AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate
BM Pre-screening Requirements: All BM Tuba applicants must upload a pre-screening video containing the following material within their application by December 1st:
- One complete lyrical etude from Bordogni, 43 Bel Canto Etudes for Tuba
- One complete technical etude from Blazhevich, 70 Studies for Tuba, Volume 1
- A three-minute excerpt from any solo work (piano optional)
BM Final Audition Requirements:
- One complete lyrical etude from Bordogni, 43 Bel Canto Etudes for Tuba
- One complete technical etude from Blazhevich, 70 Studies for Tuba, Volume 1
- One solo work from the following list (or of similar difficulty). Applicants are encouraged to present repertoire by composers who have been traditionally underrepresented by virtue of their gender, race, ethnicity, or cultural heritage.

MM Pre-screening Requirements: All MM Tuba applicants must upload a pre-screening video containing the following material within their application by December 1st:
- One complete lyrical etude from Snedecor, Low Etudes for Tuba Volume 1
- One complete technical etude from Kopprasch, 60 Selected Studies
- Two contrasting band or orchestral excerpts from the standard literature
- A three-minute excerpt from any solo work (piano optional)
DMA Pre-screening Requirements: All DMA Tuba applicants must upload a pre-screening video containing the following material within their application by December 1st:
- Two contrasting solo movements/works (one from the standard repertoire and one transcription) (totaling 15 minutes)
- Three contrasting band or orchestral excerpts from the standard repertoire
- A short demonstration of the applicant’s one-on-one teaching ability (totaling 10 minutes)
MM and DMA Final Audition Requirements::
- One etude from Snedecor, Low Etudes for Tuba Volume 1: Etude #5 or Etude #6
- One solo work from the following list (or of similar difficulty). Applicants are encouraged to present repertoire by composers who have been traditionally underrepresented by virtue of their gender, race, ethnicity, or cultural heritage.
