STUDENT PROFILE
Diego Solis is a second-year horn performance major from Laredo, Texas. Being inspired by his father, who played horn during his high school years, he began playing horn at the age of 11. Before transferring to the Eastman School of Music, Diego studied horn while in high school under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Iyescas, Associate Director of Bands at Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi, and Heather Test, Instructor of Horn at Texas Christian University, while at TCU. He has performed with the Texas All-State Symphony Orchestra, Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra, The Conducting Institute Laboratory Orchestra, Fort Worth Medical Orchestra, and the TCU Symphony Orchestra. In 2022 and 2023, Diego was selected to perform with the National Youth Orchestra of USA. With this, he performed on a tour around Europe and the United States under the baton of Daniel Harding and Sir Andrew Davis. At Eastman, Diego studies primarily with Professor W. Peter Kurau alongside Jacek Muzyk and Maura McCune-Corvington. Outside of music, Diego enjoys spending time with friends, family, and his three cats.
