STUDENT PROFILE
Gaurav Sarangi is a sophomore from Frisco, Texas, pursuing a degree in Saxophone Performance, studying under Professor Chien-Kwan Lin. He has been playing the saxophone for eight years and also studied other instruments such as piano, euphonium, and percussion. He is a part of the Wind Orchestra directed by Dr. Mark Scatterday, the Eastman Saxophone Project directed by Professor Chien-Kwan Lin, and is the alto saxophonist in the Asiimov Quartet, with whom he competed in the 2024 North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) Saxophone Quartet Competition.
In high school, Gaurav served as the principal baritone saxophone of the TMEA All-State 5A Wind Symphony, and as the baritone saxophonist in the Overtone Saxophone Quartet, with whom he competed at the national level. Gaurav has previously studied with Mark Alewine and Dr. Alexander Richards of Victoria Conservatory in Canada.
