PRESCREENING AND INTERVIEW REQUIREMENTS
Graduate
Applicants should upload a video recording that will serve as your performance/ presentation. There are two options for this recording:
Option #1: Upload only a short presentation, delivered by you, between 5 minutes (minimum) and 10 minutes (maximum) in length. This presentation should offer a snapshot of your communication abilities in a presentation format. You can offer a presentation on a specific piece of music, on an idea or industry trend, or any other musical idea that you would like to present on. The presentation can include the theory, history, composer background, composition style, your interest in and/or history with the piece, or any combination of these elements that you choose to present, and should incorporate references to your sources of knowledge and research. When recording, please submit an unedited presentation video (recorded all in one take).
Option #2: Upload both a solo performance, performed by you, and a short presentation, delivered by you. This option is used if a candidate has an interest in some type of musical performance element as part of their elective requirements; the musical demonstration is not considered as part of admission decisions, but rather only for future potential curriculum advising. Each segment should be between 5 minutes (minimum) and 10 minutes (maximum) in length, not to exceed 20 minutes total for both components. For all musicians, your performance can be either accompanied or unaccompanied (pre-recorded accompaniment or an accompaniment app is also acceptable). Please follow the instructions above for your presentation video. In fulfilling this option, your music-related communications presentation should be connected to the music presented in the solo performance video. When recording, please submit an unedited performance video (recorded all in one take) and unedited presentation video (also recorded all in one take).
Applicants who pass through the video presentation round will also be scheduled for an online interview with program faculty.
