David Kraft
David Kraft is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Organ Performance at the Eastman School of Music in the studio of David Higgs. A native of the Rochester, NY area, he began lessons in piano at the age of 5 and studied organ since the age of 13 with John Morabito. David has served as an organist at Holy Trinity Church (Webster), St. Thomas the Apostle Church (Irondequoit), and Sacred Heart Cathedral (Rochester), where he assisted in the founding and education of the Cathedral Youth Schola. In the fall of 2021, he received First Prize in the 24th annual Albert Schweitzer Organ Competition. In 2023, he was selected as a finalist in the Lynnwood Farnam Organ Competition. David is an experienced organbuilder, having served as an employee of Parsons Pipe Organ Builders on the installation of their Opus 52 (III/70) at St. Benedict’s Cathedral, Evansville, IA. In addition, he is actively involved in the repair and construction of virtual pipe organs, reed organs, and harmoniums. He has also undertaken an independent research project to construct an 18th-century table organ in the style of Jean-Baptiste Micot. Since 2024, David has served as Organist of the United Church of Canandaigua.
