STUDENT PROFILE
Zachary Jantzi is a freshman from the Poconos in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and is pursuing a dual degree in Instrumental Music Education under professor Chien-Kwan Lin, and Accounting. Zachary began playing percussion at the age of five, and continued with this until he was 14 in eighth grade, when he started playing the saxophone. On saxophone, he has participated in PMEA festivals including placement in the PMEA All-State Concert Band, and many other local festivals and competitions. In pursuit of his saxophone interests while in school, he participated in many groups such as Jazz bands, Symphonic Bands, Concert Bands, Wind ensembles, and Pit orchestras. After gaining proficiency on saxophone, he expanded his musical interests to other woodwind instruments such as clarinet and flute, where he participated in more varieties of pit bands, PMEA Orchestras, private orchestras, and many other music celebrations. His studies have been under the direction of Eric Warner and Debra Kettering, along with instruction from external professors such as Dr. John Murphy and Dr. Fred Romines.
