PRESCREENING AND AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate
CLARINET
2025 Rochester Audition Dates: Fridays, February 21 & 28
Pre-screening requirement: By December 1, all clarinet applicants must upload a pre-screen video recording. Your video should include the following:
- One etude from Rose 32 Etudes
- Mozart Concerto, K.622, First movement exposition (with or without piano accompaniment)
- Beethoven Symphony No. 6, Second movement: from one bar before D through two bars before E (mm. 68-77)
- Mendelssohn, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Scherzo): Beginning to bar 48
Audition Repertoire Requirements
Selected applicants will be scheduled for a live audition either on campus or via Zoom in February. The live audition will be a short lesson format to include an interview and performance of the required repertoire.
- Two Etudes from Rose 32 Etudes:
- One slow etude from the following: 1, 11, 13, 19, 21, or 31
- One fast etude from the following: 10, 16, 20, or 24
- Mozart Concerto, K. 622: Movement 1 Exposition
- Igor Stravinsky Three Pieces (complete)
- Both of the following orchestral selections:
- Beethoven Symphony No. 6
- First movement: two bars before K to the end of the solo (mm. 474 to 492)
- Second movement: one bar before D through two bars before E (mm. 68-77)
- Mendelssohn A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Scherzo)
- Beginning to bar 48
- Beethoven Symphony No. 6
Graduate
