Joseph Alberico
STUDENT PROFILE
Joseph Alberico is a senior horn student and Performer’s Certificate candidate at the Eastman School of Music. Joseph is originally from New Hartford, NY and began studying horn under the tutelage of Marjorie Hawthorne.
Joseph served as Second Horn of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro JoAnn Falletta, on one-year positions for the 2022-‘23 and 2023-‘24 seasons. During his time with the BPO, Joseph toured with the orchestra to Carnegie Hall, Sarasota, FL and Vero Beach, FL. Additionally, he appears on several albums with the BPO, including two 2025 Grammy-nominated albums. This includes nominations for Best Classical Compendium, featuring music by Lukas Foss, as well as Best Orchestral Performance, featuring music by Kodaly. Joseph has also been performing occasionally as an extra player with Syracuse Orchestra since 2018.
In addition to his performing career, Joseph also teaches as a brass instructor with the New Hartford Marching Band, and maintains a small private studio. His primary teachers over the years include Ilze Brink, Marjorie Hawthorne, W. Peter Kurau, Maura McCune-Corvington, and Jacek Muzyk. Additionally, Joseph has also studied with artists such as Stephen Laifer and Jen Montone.
