Eastman School of Music musicians — current students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as students and faculty from the Eastman Community Music School (ECMS) — will be appearing throughout the 2017 Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival (XRIJF).
This year’s festival runs June 23 through July 1 at 22 venues, including the school’s Hatch, Kilbourn, and Kodak Halls. Most of the other locations are within a short walking distance of the School’s campus on Gibbs Street, which gets renamed “Jazz Street” during the event. Eastman has been involved in the festival since it was founded in 2002.
Guitarist and faculty member Bob Sneider continues to earn his moniker as “the hardest-working man at the jazz festival” as he closes out each night of the festival with jam sessions at 10:30 p.m. in the Riverview Ballroom at the Radisson Hotel Rochester Riverside. In addition, Sneider is hosting and moderating the Wegmans-sponsored Jazz Workshops for Young Music Students, which are held at Eastman and led by world-renowned musicians performing at the festival from the United States and the United Kingdom.
For detailed information on tickets and venue locations, check the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival website rochesterjazz.com.
