The Eastman School of Music will host 9 shows in its venues during the First Niagara Rochester Fringe Festival Sept. 17 to 26.
Eastman faculty, students, and staff will also perform at other venues in and around downtown Rochester during this year’s event. For more on both Eastman and University of Rochester participation in the festival, visit http://www.rochester.edu/arts/fringe/ .

An Exploration of Music and Light. Dave Rivello teams with Rochester Institute of
Technology lighting artist W. Michelle Harris to explore myriad combinations of light and music.

H: Histories. Matt Curlee and physicist Regina Demina’s Fermion Histories and Genomic Histories, inspired by the structure of our universe and of life.

STEEL Double Trio
Brendan Lanighan,
A traditional jazz chordless trio: bass, drums, and a horn player, but doubled. Classic songs, traditional jazz standards, and unique original compositions.
Sticks, Strings, and Paint
Drew Worden, Lauren Cauley, Elise Hughey. A unique combination of percussion, classical strings, and artists painting live to the music, featuring Eastman-trained musicians performing music from a unique crossover perspective. Resultant work will be available for purchase following the show.

Great Vagrant

An eclectic mix of traditional bluegrass tunes, original songs, and indie covers.
East Side Brass Band
Darren Lin, Drew Worden. A funky 8-piece New Orleans-style brass band, plays everything from pop covers, slavic dance songs, and classic second line tunes all night.
Matt Witten
Himmels-Tur means Heaven’s Door, a massive, provocative, and profound work for a solo percussionist, who plays approximately for an hour on a large specially built door.
Bridget Kinneary
The relationship between musician and dancer is turned on its head during this unique, intimate performance of Bach Cello Suite No. 4 by violist Bridget Kinneary and dancer Missy Pfohl-Smith. Watch as the musician becomes a part of the dance and the dancer a part of the music. Discussion to follow.
