On Sunday, November 3, at 3 p.m., the Eastman School of Music will host a memorial celebration in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre in honor of Douglas Lowry.
The event, a tribute in words, music, and images, is free and open to the public, but tickets will be needed. Tickets will be available starting on Wednesday, October 23, by visiting the Eastman Theatre Box Office on 433 East Main Street, Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (non-concert Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Douglas Lowry, who served as the Joan and Martin Messinger Dean of the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, passed away on October 2. A composer, conductor, and academic leader who was keenly attuned to the shifting music world and its challenges for music schools and students, he was 62.
The Eastman School of Music has created a memorial website at esm.rochester.edu/lowry which contains videos and excerpts from speeches and writings, photos, videos, information about a memorial fund, and an opportunity to share tributes.
