Eastman School of Music musicians will present a holiday-themed concert of instrumental and choral fare at the Memorial Art Gallery at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.
Part of the monthly “Third Sunday Concert with the Italian Baroque Organ” series, the program features organist Michael Unger, part-time instructor at Eastman, collaborating with Eastman students, alumni, and faculty, including a choral ensemble.
Works to be performed will include aria excerpts from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. In addition, the audience will be able to participate in sing-along of familiar holiday carols.
Tickets to the Italian Baroque Organ Festive Holiday concerts are $10 (students with ID $5), and are available at the door one hour before the concert or in advance at the Gallery’s Admission Desk.
The Italian Baroque Organ was built around 1770 in central Italy. Restored and installed in 2005 at the Memorial Art Gallery, the instrument is the only one of its kind in North America. More information on concerts is available online at www.esm.rochester.edu/concerts.
