The signature ensemble of the famed Boston Early Music Festival opens the new season of the Kilbourn Concert Series at the Eastman School of Music with two performances, at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Hatch Recital Hall.
Directed by Eastman Professor and lutenist Paul O’Dette and virtuoso violinist Robert Mealy, the Boston Early Music Festival Chamber Ensemble will perform a program of orchestral works and concertos by J.S. Bach, G.P. Telemann, and Vivaldi. The concerto works will feature harpsichord soloists William Porter and Edoardo Bellotti.
Since its founding in 1980, the Boston Early Music Festival (BEMF) has been recognized as a leader in the field of early music and historical performance. Through its wide array of programs, educational events, and Grammy-nominated opera recordings, BEMF is North America’s premier presenting organization for conservators and performers of music of the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical periods.

The Boston Early Music Festival Chamber Ensemble will also perform a concert of Bach and Stözel Cantatas at Christ Church at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, September 29, as part of the Eastman Rochester Organ Initiative.
