Singers of all ages and abilities are again invited to take part in “Eastman Summer Sing,” a popular series of choral music reading sessions held Tuesday evenings in July at 7:30 p.m. in the Eastman School of Music’s Kilbourn Hall. Beginning July 5, participants can enjoy performing choral masterworks with others; scores are provided at the door.
The program offers the Rochester community the opportunity to experience great music with Eastman faculty, Eastman students, and outstanding soloists from the area. Since 1995, hundreds of Rochesterians have attended these relaxed and engaging singing experiences. William Weinert, Eastman’s Director of Choral Activities, and guest conductor Harris Ipock will lead this year’s programs.
“Eastman Summer Sing” sessions are free, with a $5 suggested donation. Refreshments are provided, and parking for the events is free in the East End Garage. This annual tradition continues with the following works:
July 5: Hanson, Song of Democracy, Lament for Beowulf, and Cherubic Hymn; William Weinert, conductor.
July 12: Beethoven, Symphony No. 9; Mahler, Symphony No. 2; William Weinert, conductor
July 19: Williams, Dona nobis pacem; Harris Ipock, conductor.
July 26: Mozart, Mass in C-minor; William Weinert, conductor.
