Hear the sounds of the only full-size Italian Baroque organ in North America Sunday, March 18, when guest organist Edoardo Bellotti performs a recital at the Memorial Art Gallery.
Edoardo Bellotti is Professor of Organ at the Conservatory of Udine (Italy) and of Historical Organ at the Musikhochschule of Trossingen (Germany), and is Artistic Consultant of the Smarano International Organ Academy. He is dedicated to the study of the Renaissance and Baroque keyboard repertoire, particularly improvisation and continuo playing, and has made critically acclaimed recordings on historical instruments. Bellotti has published articles, books, and critical editions of keyboard compositions of the 17th and 18th centuries, and is regularly invited to international conferences and to master classes in Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan, and Korea.
Edoardo Bellotti will also offer a master class at the Memorial Art Gallery on Tuesday, March 20, from 3 to 6 p.m.
Restored and installed in 2005 at the Memorial Art Gallery, the organ is located in the Gallery’s Herdle Fountain Court and is surrounded by works of art from the Baroque period.
The recital begins at 5:30 p.m. and will last one hour. The cost of tickets is $12 (students, $8). Tickets are available at the door and can be purchased by cash or check. Seating is limited.
