Rochester, N.Y. – The Eastman School of Music continues its eclectic Mosaic Series with a solo recital by Grammy-winning piano virtuoso Yefim Bronfman. The performance will take place in the Eastman Theatre on Tuesday, February 27 at 8 p.m., and will include works by Beethoven, Schumann, Ravel, and Balakirev.
Considered one of the finest pianists performing today, Yefim Bronfman possesses both commanding technical capabilities and a singular artistic voice. Born in 1958 in Uzbekistan, he emigrated to Israel in 1973 and later became an American citizen. In 1991 he was awarded the Avery Fischer Prize, one of the most prestigious awards given to American instrumentalists, and received a Grammy Award in the "Best Instrumental Soloist" category in 1997 for his recording of the three Bartok piano concertos with the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra. A devoted chamber musician, he has appeared with such internationally known musicians as Isaac Stern, Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, and Pinchas Zuckerman.
Tickets for the Yefim Bronfman concert range from $15 to $30. Discounts are available with a University of Rochester ID.
