Rochester, N.Y.–Ring in the holiday season with the Eastman Italian Baroque Organ at the Memorial Art Gallery! The Eastman School of Music will present a special hour-long holiday concert on the instrument, the only full-size Italian Baroque organ in North America, on Sunday, December 17 at 5:30 p.m. The recital will showcase Ulrika Davidsson, Instructor in Organ and Historical Keyboards at Eastman, and will feature selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker and works by Vivaldi, Frescobaldi, Pachelbel, Daquin, and Haydn. Ms. Davidsson will also give two mini-concert/presentations on the organ at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. that day.
Over the last two decades, Ms. Davidsson has appeared throughout Europe and U.S. as recitalist and chamber musician with various ensembles. In her native Sweden she has performed solo concertos with several orchestras, and has appeared on national television and radio.
Restored and installed last year at the Memorial Art Gallery, the organ is located in the Gallery’s Herdle Fountain Court and is surrounded by works of art from the Baroque period.
Tickets for the Holiday concert are $12 (students, $8), are available at the door, and can be purchased by cash or check. Seating is limited. The mini-concert/presentations are free with museum admission.
