ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Accomplished jazz pianist Fred Hersch will perform as a guest solo artist on Wednesday, October 11 at 8 p.m. at Eastman School of Music’s Kilbourn Hall.
Described as a “poet of a pianist” by The New Yorker and “a master who plays it his way” by the New York Times, Hersch’s accomplishments include two Grammy nominations for Best Jazz Instrumental Performance and a 2003 Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship for composition. He has recorded more than two dozen albums as a solo artist or bandleader and appears on more than 100 recording projects as a duo collaborator, sideman or featured soloist. While he’s here next week, Hersch will be conducting master classes for Eastman jazz students.
