Hear the sounds of the only full-size Italian Baroque organ in North America this Sunday, September 17 when William Porter, Professor of Organ and Harpsichord at the Eastman School of Music, performs a recital at the Memorial Art Gallery. His program will consist of dance music of the Renaissance, church and chamber music of the Baroque era, and improvisations that showcase the incredible beauty of this unique instrument.
Restored and installed last summer at the Memorial Art Gallery, the organ is found in the Gallery’s Herdle Fountain Court among works of art from the Baroque period.
The recital begins at 5:30 p.m. and will run for one hour. The cost of tickets is $12 (students, $8). Tickets are available at the door and can be purchased by cash or check. Seating is limited.
