The Eastman School of Music will become a battleground of fluttering ivory keys and brilliant arpeggios next week when young pianists from around the world come to Rochester to compete for fame and fortune.
The tenth-annual Eastman Young Artists International Piano Competition — a week-long event of master classes, guest recitals and judged performances — brings together 21 pre-screened pianists between the ages of 14 and 18 from around the world.
Winners of the competition will have the opportunity to show off their dazzling piano skills in the Eastman Theatre on Friday, August 4. But that’s not all they’ll receive — the competition’s best players will also be awarded sizable cash prizes and generous scholarships to attend the Eastman School of Music
