Vlog #11 Stuck on the beginning

Here Derek talks about the issues he has been encountering with the beginning of his wind ensemble piece, a reoccurring problem of his.

Vlog 11- competition in music

I just judged my first competition and it has me thinking about the purpose of competition in music.  It is inevitable that it exists so we all need to figure out how we feel about it.

Pre- Opera Vlog!

A quick VLOG before I head out for the Atlanta Opera’s La Traviata.

The week of traveling that made my friends think I’m nuts. Freelancing in LA, TX, and MA

Think you’re busy with gigs? Meghan can relate. In this vlog she talks about having rehearsals in Baton Rouge, and auditions in Boston and Houston. All within the same week. Orchestral playing is amazing, but logistics can be exhausting.

Vlog 10 – More Flexibilty

Conversations with Casals

In this Vlog, I share inspirational words from the famous cellist and musician, Pablo Casals.

Arts for Social Change, Boston University Panel, vlog #11

Meghan talks about her experience and the questions that were asked at Boston University’s “Arts for Social Change” event. 47 Strings was one of the six organizations founded by former alumni that was discussed. The panel was open to current students in visual arts, theater, and music.

47 Strings- Programming for 4-year olds

47 Strings was recently awarded the Richter Fund for Musical Outreach from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. This grant will fund six performances at Houston Homeless Shelters this Spring. See how Meghan programs a concert for homeless preschoolers, as well as rehearsal time with bassist David Connor.
