Purtle Brass Camp
Mary AllyeB Purtle is an accomplished performer as well as a private instructor of all the woodwind instruments. She has had students win the Music Teachers National Association Competition at the South Carolina Junior & Senior level (flute and oboe), the Southern Division Junior level (flute) and had a Junior National Woodwind Finalist (flute). She also had students get honorable mention and runner-up in the South Carolina and Southern Division MTNA on flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon. For the past ten years she has had at least one oboe student sitting first chair in a SC All-State Band plus first and high chairs in other woodwind sections. Mary AllyeB has students who perform with the Carolina Youth Symphony, Greenville County Youth Orchestra and students who have been accepted to programs such as North Carolina School of the Arts, Brevard Music Center and Sewanee Music Festival. Her written work on woodwind doubling was cited at the 2008 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA. Mary AllyeB also plays professionally as Principal English Horn for the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra, acting Principal Oboe for the Greater Anderson Musical Arts Consortium and oboe in the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra.
