Tinnitus: When There’s Humming in Your Head and It Won’t Go Away
Here’s an interesting article from the International Musician, the monthly official journal of the American Federation of Musicians, (A.K.A. the union). We’re in a profession that subjects us to loud noises and one of the consequences is the possibility of developing Tinnitus. I happen to have it. For me there is a hissing sound, (I describe it as crickets in the distance) that is always present, but mostly it gets masked by ambient sounds (background noise). This article explains the malady and offers some tips for protecting your ears. Read it here.
Hi Ray. Thank you for writing this article. I am presenting a clinic at the NC Music Educator’s conference next month on this topic. I will make sure to include this resource.
My clinic is entitled “Your Ear Drum; The Most Important Instrument in Your Ensemble.” You might find this article in the PAS e-magazine “Rhythm! Scene” interesting.
