Sound ExChange Concert
On Thursday, November 17th, five members of the Horn Studio will be performing in the first orchestral concert of a new ESM student-run orchestra, Sound ExChange. The concert will take place at 5:15PM in the Flaum Atrium of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
First year MM student Emily Wozniak started Sound ExChange this fall to make a positive change in the position of classical music in society. She wanted to form a student orchestra at ESM that could be dedicated to answering the following question: how can classical music thrive in contemporary society? Members of Sound ExChange are dedicated to presenting classical music in new, creative ways to facilitate audience engagement. The program for the upcoming concert will include orchestral works by Rossini, Beethoven, and Brahms. The horn section is comprised of Renée Vogen, Billy Bard, Chelsea Nelson, Caitlin Smith, and Emily Wozniak. Freshman Chelsea Nelson is also on the board of Sound ExChange and works on artistic planning and audience development.
