Eastman Holiday Sing 2010

The Holiday Sing is an annual tradition here at the Eastman School of Music. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members gather in the Main Hall at the end of the fall semester to hear musical pieces inspired by the holiday season. The Horn Choir performed two compositions this year. The first was an arrangement of Randall Thompson’s peaceful Alleluia by Eastman alum J. Gregory Miller.

Next up was Cor Carols- a favorite of the Eastman horns! Composed by Eastman alum Leonard Schwartz, Cor Carols was arranged for horn choir by Verne Reynolds (Professor Emeritus of Horn). Listen closely- there are famous orchestral excerpts (Strauss, Stravinsky, and more) mixed in with the familiar holiday tunes. Watch for the multi-talented Michael Alexander, performing on horn AND jingle bells!

The Holiday Sing always concludes with the whole crowd singing Dona Nobis Pacem. It is a wonderful way to mark the end  of the fall semester at Eastman.
