While many of you were away over the summer, the Facilities team and contractors were busy with many improvements necessary to keep the Eastman School of Music functioning at its best. Here are just a few, including several you might not see during your typical day:
PRACTICE ROOMS
As part of our continued awareness and attention to ongoing student concerns, a deep cleaning of Annex practice rooms (77 had louvers and vents cleaned, 56 had carpets cleaned) and painting (23 rooms) was completed.
STUDENT LIVING CENTER
Domestic hot water and heating boiler replacement. The boilers that generate hot water and heat for the residential hall and dining facility were replaced with energy efficient, modular units resulting in better control over fluctuations in water temperatures for residents and a much more environmentally and financially sound operation.
KODAK HALL
Rigging upgrades, controls replacement and safety enhancements. Line sets were repositioned, connections updated, and the equipment used to raise and lower them replaced. Based on this modernization, Kodak Hall is positioned to support more ambitious and complex programming to the benefit of our ESM Community and the Rochester Community at large. In addition- while the theatre was dark, the chandelier and balcony bucket lights were cleaned and the lamps changed.
