Jazz Drummer and Composer John Hollenbeck
John Hollenbeck was born in Binghamton on June 19, 1968. Hollenbeck attended the Eastman School of Music where he recieved a degree in percussion and jazz composition. Hollenbeck is best known for the work he has done with the Claudia Quintet and Bob Brookmeyer. He has also worked with Fred Hersch, Tony Malaby, the Village Vanguard Orchestra, Kenny Wheeler, Pablo Ziegler, and Meredith Monk.
Opera Tenor Richard Leech
Born in Vestal on March 26, 1957, Richard Leech attended the Eastman School of Music, leaving after one semester before starting his career with the Tri-Cities opera in the 1980s. Leech would go on to perform at the New York City Opera, Cincinnati Opera, San Diego Opera, and with many other groups. He is most well known as being an operatic tenor and the recipient of the Richard Tucker Award. Leech is the current Director of Resident Artist Programs at the Michigan Opera Theatre.
