It’s not often that we get to hear a live performance by an artist who has helped to define the artistic and technical standards for an instrument, but legendary lutenist Paul O’Dette qualifies. Currently director of early music at the Eastman School of Music and artistic director of the Boston Early Music Festival, he’s made more than 100 recordings. He’s joined by Grammy-nominated lutenist Ronn McFarlane, a founding member of the Baltimore Consort and a frequent guest with an array of international early music ensembles, in “For Two Lutes: Virtuoso Duets from Italy and England.” Dueling lutes, anyone?
