Jeff Campbell is the Program Director of the Jazz I & II program. Campbell is Professor and Chair of Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media at the Eastman School of Music. As a jazz bassist, he has performed with Marian McPartland, Gene Bertoncini, Rich Perry, Trio East, Harold Jones, the Eastman Jazz Quartet featuring Harold Danko, and has appeared on McPartland’s Piano Jazz program on National Public Radio. Campbell is a member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra bass section, and has numerous CDs to his credit.

Elise Cismesia, a 2017 graduate of Downers Grove North High School, has been awarded a $500 scholarship from the Bernie G. Yvon Memorial Fund, established in honor of the beloved Chicago-area actor who passed away in 2014. The scholarship was established to provide assistance to collegiate theater artists like Cismesia, who will attend Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in the fall.

The phone rang. It was his brother. “Congratulations,” said the voice on the other end of the line.
“For what?” asked Midlothian resident Jeff Resnick.
“For selling your album on eBay for $185,” the brother told his shocked sibling. …
One night, after the performance of the student jazz ensemble he directed, Resnick was approached by a woman and asked if he would compose a score for a short film she was making to promote the Rochester Institute of Technology.
The filmmaker asked Resnick to create a jazz tone poem – a piece of orchestral music built around a theme – for each department in RIT’s School for American Craftsmen: Wood, Metal, Weaving, Glass and Clay. With just two weeks to compose, record and deliver a score on a shoestring budget, he accepted the filmmaker’s proposal.
Resnick quickly pulled together the best musicians he could find, including pianist Sonny Kompanek, guitarist Tom Rizzo and faculty members at the Eastman School of Music, including trumpeter Jeff Tyzik, woodwind player Ramon Ricker, drummer Dave Mancini and bassist Aleck Brinkman. …

Dr. Roy Stillwell – Stillwell is an experienced instructor and performer. He has taught music at the college level in North Dakota and Mississippi and holds degrees in music from MacMurray College and the Eastman School of Music. After retiring from full-time teaching, he moved back to the Alton/Godfrey area where he was raised. Stillwell currently teaches organ as an adjunct instructor at L&C.
