Colby Carson came to the Eastman Admissions team in 2023 from Interlochen, MI where he was Dean of Admission and Financial Aid for Interlochen Arts Academy. Prior to Interlochen he served as Director of Recruitment and Enrollment at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Music. Previous positions include Director of Admission and Associate Director for Student Affairs at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music and Assistant Director of Admissions for Recruitment at The Juilliard School in New York City.

Colby currently serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Music Admissions Roundtable, a professional networking group of music admissions colleagues at North American higher education music institutions. The organization offers regular roundtable meetings/conferences to promote professionalism and share best practices in music admissions. 

Colby earned his doctorate in Higher Education Management from the University of Pittsburgh, and holds a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from the Florida State University College of Music, where he began working in admissions in 2009. Before returning to FSU, where he also received a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education, he taught high school chorus in Orlando, Florida. Outside of work Colby enjoys time with his wife, three kids, and their pets.
