Rob Varon

Hi I’m Rob! I’m a guitarist who specializes in jazz and rock styles who is based here locally out of Rochester. I am set to graduate from the Eastman School of Music with a BM for jazz guitar in 2023. I grew up taking lessons, classes, and ensembles at ECMS and it completely changed the shape of my musical education and is now helping launch me into my career. 

I’ve been studying with main professor Bob Sneider of Eastman since 2012. He has helped me achieve most of my success with milestones such as:

Winner of the 42nd Downbeat award for jazz improvisation 
2nd place prize in the Wilson Center Guitar Competition of 2019 judged by jazz legend John Scofield 
Douglas Lowry Award of 2019 presented by the Rochester Music Hall of Fame 
2020 Honor prize from the Youngarts Foundation for jazz improvisation
