Juries & Exams

Juries and exams are scheduled for each instrument on specific days in April and May, but most typically at the end of May during “Jury Week.”

Students who wish to perform an exam or jury should talk to their teacher for details on how to sign up for a 10 minute time slot. Teachers will help determine what pieces, scales, etc., each student should prepare for their exam/jury. Students are graded on their exam/jury and may receive a new curricular level, as recommended by their jurors and teacher. Teachers will discuss the results of the exam/jury with students who participate and give them copies of their comment sheets.

Students who wish to receive a Diploma from ECMS must participate in juries each year, and Diploma candidates pursuing an Honors distinction must pass a jury level 6 before their Senior Year, in addition to completing the other Honors requirements.
