Michelle Walker
Michelle Walker holds a Masters degree in Music Education and Viola Performance from the Eastman School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Viola Performance from the University of Utah. A devoted life-long learner, Michelle has received comprehensive Suzuki training in all Viola Units 1-9 under the direction of notable Suzuki trainer Elizabeth Stuen-Walker. She has also completed Suzuki Units 1-3 in Violin with teacher trainers Christie Felsing and Pat D’Ercole, and all Suzuki in the Schools training with Laurie Scott and Winifred Crock. Recently Michelle received Level 1 endorsement in Paul Rolland’s String Pedagogy.
Michelle is a dedicated viola and violin private lesson and group class teacher at the Eastman Community Music School, where she coordinates the YES (Young Eastman Strings) Program. Michelle is a founder of the Suzuki Strings program at the Rochester Prep Charter Schools where she teaches students and leads and directs a team of string teachers. She has previously taught elementary lessons and orchestras in the Canyon and Davis School Districts in Utah.
As an orchestral player, Michelle has performed with the Salt Lake Symphony and the Orchestra at Temple Square.
A native of Victor, New York, Michelle is an alumna of the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra and Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
