Katherine Lanz Dupra
Katherine Lanz Dupra is a pianist, vocalist, choral conductor and music educator originally from Buffalo, NY. Her past experience includes teaching k-12 choral and general music in the public
schools for 38 years. She taught for numerous School Districts, including the Buffalo Public Schools, East Aurora, Gates Chili, Fairport, Webster, Penfield and her final 23 years before
retirement, she taught at Victor Central Schools. At Victor, Katherine was the Senior High Vocal Music Director, conducting choirs, teaching voice and piano lessons and directing the Musicals.
She also served as Department Chair for many years and received certification as an International Baccalaureate Instructor, writing and overseeing the k-12 general music, choral and music theory
curriculums. She was also guest conductor for various All County and All State Choruses.
Katherine began playing the piano at age three and has been a piano instructor since age 11. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Fredonia where she was originally a piano performance Major
and had the honor of being placed in the studio of the artist in residence and world renown concert pianist, Claudette Sorel. Eventually Katherine did a double Major in Music Education in addition to completing course work for Music Therapy.
Katherine received a Masters Degree in Education from Nazareth College of Rochester. She also completed Orff Levels Training from The Eastman School of Music.
Katherine has been a member of and soloist for the vocal ensemble Madrigalia for 12 years, under the direction of composer, arranger and pianist, Cary Ratcliff. With Madrigalia, she has performed numerous times with the Rochester Philharmonic.
Since Retirement from the public schools, Katherine has continued teaching private piano and voice. She has continued singing with Madrigalia and has accompanied choruses for the Fairport
School District. Katherine is very honored and excited to be joining the ECMS Faculty for piano Instruction and choral conducting!
