Elizabeth Henderson

Elizabeth Henderson leads a varied career as a performer and educator in the Greater Rochester Area as well as nationally. She has performed in orchestral, chamber, and solo settings with many of the country’s premier ensembles including the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Phoenix Symphony, Symphony San Jose and the Finger Lakes Opera. She has collaborated with world class conductors including Michael Tilson Thomas, Carl St. Clair, Andreas Delfs, Carl Topilow, Tito Munoz, and Edwin Outwater.

An avid educator, Ms. Henderson coaches chamber ensembles for both young students and adults in addition to teaching private lessons at the Eastman Community Music School. In addition to her position at Eastman, Ms. Henderson is the Professor of Oboe at Nazareth University where she teaches applied oboe lessons, instructs the woodwind methods classes, and performs with the Wilmot Wind Quintet. She previously served on faculty as Oboe Professor at Las Positas Community College and at Chabot College in Northern California. During her time in California she was an adjudicator for the Contra Costa County Honor

Bands. Ms. Henderson has worked in the public school system as a teacher, coach, and clinician and maintains a private studio of talented oboists of all ages. Equally as passionate about reed-making as performing and teaching, she maintains an oboe and English horn reed business and teaches the art of reed-making to students across the United States. 

A native of Fairport, NY, Ms. Henderson received her Bachelor of Music from Ithaca College and Master of Music from Arizona State University. Her primary teachers are Martin Schuring and Paige Morgan with additional studies under the tutelage of Eugene Izotov, Mingjia Liu, Laura Griffiths and Richard Killmer. 

In her free time, Ms. Henderson enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, son and daughter.
