Kirk Morrison
“One day while I was in the 5th grade, I ventured up into the attic and found an old trumpet. I brought it to school the next day, and the rest is history. This is the day that my life changed forever.”
Kirk Morrison, originally from Franklin, Pennsylvania, is a trumpet player pursuing his Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance & Literature at the Eastman School of Music. In May 2023, Kirk graduated from Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania, with his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. During his time at Mercyhurst, Kirk served as President of Mercyhurst’s chapter in the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). In this position, he led fellow music education majors in accomplishing musical outreach goals within the Erie community and beyond through Mercyhurst’s Annual Tri-State Honors Band Festival.
In 2022, Kirk was a winner of the Mercyhurst Concerto & Aria competition where he performed the complete Haydn Trumpet Concerto with the Mercyhurst Civic Orchestra. Kirk has frequently performed in chamber, wind, jazz, and orchestral ensembles. Outside of the trumpet, Kirk is also an active performer in the theatre scene. In 2022, Kirk performed as Dino in Stephen Sondheim’s first musical, “Saturday Night” and has also performed in the renowned writing duo Ahrens and Flaherty’s first farce, “Lucky Stiff.” Kirk is a current student of Andrew McCandless.
Outside of music, Kirk enjoys coffee, cooking, running, spending time with friends, family, and playing with his dog, Kooper.
