This a yearlong course divided into two semesters.

This full-year course explores the full history of jazz from its roots through to the 21st century, drawing parallels with key points in American history and popular music. Through study of classic recordings, videos of performances and interviews, and musical transcriptions, students will learn to identify key styles, musicians, and movements in jazz from its origins to now.
