Course Objectives (PCL 101-104) [something similar to]

By the end of this semester, students will have developed and refined skills in technique, repertoire, harmonization, transposition, sight-reading, chord progressions, and improvisation. 

Required Text:

PCL 101-102Keyboard Musicianship, Book 1, 11th edition, 2019:  Chapters 1—4 (Lyke, Caramia, Haydon, and Chioldi) Stipes Publishing Co.

PCL 103-104:   Keyboard Musicianship, Book II, 11th edition, 2020:  Chapters 5—8 (Lyke, Caramia, Alexander, Haydon and Chioldi) Stipes Publishing Co.

To provide a more advanced level of keyboard instruction after the completion of PCL 104 or equivalent.

PCL 105-106:  There is no required textbook for this course, materials for the course will be posted on Blackboard ahead of the class every week.

MUSC 118:

The class is a 2 elective credit hour class for River Campus non-music major students who have little or no previous keyboard training. The course will cover topics, such as fundamental skills, technique, solos and ensemble repertoire, etc.

Attendance/Participation

Only TWO UNEXCUSED ABSENCES are allowed for the semester.  Any unexcused absences beyond these two will affect the final grade.
