By Tahlia Cott The new student organization Eastman Americana is excited to present its special spring semester event, 10 String Symphony. Rachel Baiman and Christian Sedelmyer, two veterans of the Nashville music scene, take the influences of traditional American music and add their own spin. Baiman, a former Illinois state fiddle champion, and Sedelmyer, a classically trained violinist, “do things with fiddles you wouldn’t expect (NPR’s All Songs Considered) Join 10 String Symphony in the Ray Wright Room (ESM 120) at 2 p.m. this Saturday, as they present an educational workshop. Eastman students, staff, and faculty members are encouraged to bring any instrument for the workshop portion. Baiman and Sedelmyer will give an interactive presentation on traditional American music, and no previous experience with this style of music is necessary. After the workshop from 2 to 3 p.m., 10 Strong Symphony will perform from 3 to 4 p.m. Learn more about 10 String Symphony here.
