Last week she took a vacation from the worlds of concerts and opera to make her dramatic debut in a new comedy, Living on Love, which premiered at the Williamstown (MA) Theater Festival on July 16. Renee played – what else? – a tempestuous opera diva named Raquel; Douglas Sills played her husband, a libidinous conductor. And as the New York Times pointed out in its review of the play, audiences did get to hear a little of Renee Fleming’s singing voice: “when she ascends into an aria, letting her heavens-grazing voice stand in for Raquel’s, she seems entirely in tune” Read the review here.
