David Arthur Ledet holds two degrees from the Eastman School of Music: the M.M. in Oboe and the Ph.D. in Music Education. He is now Executive Secretary of the National Association of Schools of Art and the National Association of Schools of Music, the latter being the second largest accrediting association in the United States.
David Ledet has had an illustrious career as both a performing musician and educator. In the past fifteen years he has played more than 250 recitals and concerts and has been oboist with several bands and symphony orchestras. He has taught music on all grade levels and has been instrumental supervisor in Little Rock, a band director at Louisiana State University, college professor and department head in several States. He serves actively on boards of directors of several national organizations, works on committees on music curriculum and is a member of the Eastman School of Music Alumni Council. He is the author of A Confederation Plan for the Arts in Accreditation.
In recognition of his splendid work as musician and educator, and particularly of his executive direction of national academic and music policies, the Eastman School of Music honors David Ledet with the Alumni Achievement Award.
