SFC J.G. Miller ’06E, horn
Horn Choir 9/11 Remembrance Concert: Wednesday, September 11 at 11:30 AM | Kilbourn Hall
A Colorado native, Sergeant First Class J.G. Miller holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern California along with degrees from University of Arizona and The Eastman School of Music, where he received the Performer’s Certificate. As a member of The United States Army Field Band, he serves as Section Leader. Prior to service, SFC Miller performed with The Who, Mariachi Sol de México, and Los Angeles studio orchestras on motion picture soundtracks. He can be heard as principal horn on the Grammy-winning album “Soundtrack of The American Soldier.”
Kotoka Suzuki, composer
EMuSE Concert: Thursday, September 26 at 7:30 PM | Hatch Recital Hall
Kotoka Suzuki / 鈴木琴香 is a composer focusing on both multimedia and instrumental practices. She has produced several large-scale multimedia works, including spatial interactive audio-visual work for both concert and installation settings, often in collaboration with artists and scholars from other disciplines. Her work engages deeply in the visual, conceiving of sound as a physical form to be manipulated through the sculptural practice of composition. Her work often reflects on life, breath and wind.
Adam Frey, euphonium

One of the elite brass soloists in the world, Adam Frey travels the globe sharing his talents as a performer, teacher and advocate for live music. Adam is currently serving as Vice-President/President-Elect for the International Tuba Euphonium Association and is on faculty at Emory University and the University of North Georgia.
Stephanie Zyzak, violin
Morning Chamber Music: Saturday, September 28 at 11:30 AM | Hatch Recital Hall
Praised for her sensitive musicianship and heartfelt playing, violinist Stephanie Zyzak is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the most soulful and profound musicians of her generation. Stephanie made her debut at the age of seven with Cincinnati’s Starling Chamber Orchestra. She has performed as a soloist throughout Europe and has appeared at festivals including Marlboro, Caramoor, Ravinia, and the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival. Stephanie studied with Miriam Fried and Mark Steinberg and performs on a 1778 Joseph and Antonio Gagliano violin, generously on loan from Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute.
Janette Fishell, organ
Rochester Celebrity Organ Recital Series: Sunday, September 29 at 4:00 PM | Downtown United Presbyterian Church (121 Fitzhugh St N, Rochester, NY)
Janette Fishell is professor of music in organ at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she teaches applied organ and organ pedagogy. A regular performer in many of the world’s greatest concert venues, published author of numerous articles and a book on service playing published by Abingdon Press, a composer whose choral and organ music is published by Morning Star Music, St. James Press and Wayne Leupold Editions, and recording artist, she is widely recognized as a leading authority on the organ music of Czech composer Petr Eben, the subject of her doctoral dissertation and the first study of his organ works in English.
The Rochester Celebrity Organ Recital Series (RCORS) is presented by the Rochester chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO), collaborating with the Eastman School of Music, WXXI, and several local churches to invite some of today’s leading concert organists to perform on Rochester’s rich array of pipe organs. Han Lash ’04E, composer
Composition Department Guest Recital: Monday, October 21 at 7:30 PM | Hatch Recital Hall
Hailed by The New York Times for writing music that is “striking and resourceful… handsomely brooding,” Han Lash ’04E is an American composer whose music has been performed at Carnegie Hall, Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall, Lincoln Center, and Chicago Art Institute, among other prestigious venues. They have held teaching positions at the Mannes School of Music and Yale School of Music and is currently an associate professor of music in composition at Indiana University. Lash received a BM in composition from Eastman, artist diplomas from both the Cleveland Institute of Music and Yale and went on to receive a PhD in composition from Harvard. Lash was invited back to Eastman as the Howard Hanson Visiting Professor of Composition in spring 2023.
