Established in 2008, the National Council of the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester is the volunteer advisory group that works with Eastman’s Joan and Martin Messinger Dean and the Executive Director of Eastman Advancement. The National Council comprises approximately 25 members (alumni, parents, and friends) who are passionate about the value of music, and particularly, the Eastman School of Music; are thought leaders in their communities and industries; demonstrate relevant knowledge of the musical field and/or related fields; embody diverse careers, backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints; and assume philanthropic leadership roles.
Council members have a sincere interest in significant engagement and helping to secure the future of Eastman for generations to come. Council members generally focus on the long-term aspirations and progress of the school, rather than the day-to-day operations.
