Wellness at Eastman is a monthly seminar series from Eastman Performing Arts Medicine (EPAM) featuring artists and clinicians speaking to physical and mental wellness for performing artists, inspired by the Healthy Conservatoires movement in Europe.
The next Wellness at Eastman seminar will be on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 6 p.m.: Sleep – Our Superpower, presented by Chisato Marling, DMA.
Of course, you need to sleep, but what can sleep do for us? The good, the bad, and the lack thereof. Let’s make sleep our superpower to reach our goals.
Chisato Eda Marling received a Bachelor of Music in Saxophone Performance from the Musashino Academia Musicae, Tokyo, Japan, a master’s degree in Saxophone Performance from the University of Minnesota, and a Doctor of Musical Arts with minor in Musicians’ Wellness from the Eastman School of Music. She is a member of the Vertex Saxophone Quartet. She performs regularly in the Rochester area.
As an educator, she has taught several colleges in Greater Rochester Area, and has served as judge for the Rochester Philharmonic Young Artist Competition, the Hochstein Recital Competition, and for the New York State Music Teachers Association Collegiate Young Artist Woodwind Competition. Chisato teaches at Eastman Community Music School, and also the Manager of Education and Community Partnerships at Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Chisato performs exclusively on the Vandoren products and is a Vandoren Performing Artist.
