Application Information
Instructions:
- File and save the application document; complete the application form and note any previous funding awarded from the OSTFC.
- Prepare a proposal including a description of the opportunity and its importance in your career.
- Include budget information for your project. This should include travel costs, entry fees and lodging expenses (no per diem or food allowance).
- Attach a letter of support written by your applied faculty or project advisor. Your faculty/advisor may also send this directly to: mdennin2@esm.rochester.edu
- Save the application file as a PDF (Last name, First name); send to: mdennin2@esm.rochester.edu
- Incomplete applications will not be considered by the Committee. Be sure all required items are included.
Schedule:
- The Organ Student Travel Fund Committee reviews written proposals on an ongoing basis. Decisions are made by the committee and reported back to the applicant via email.
- Applications should be made two months prior to the event or experience.
- Students approved for funding submit receipts following the event or experience and are reimbursed up to the level specified by the OSTFC.
Funding:
- The OSTFC allocations will be distributed in roughly equal amounts. In order to fund more applicants, there is a maximum of $300 possible for each student. Exceptions to this cap will be approved only in exceptional circumstances.
- Students may only be funded one time during the academic cycle. From year to year, priority will be given to students requesting OSTFC funding for the first time.
- Activities that the OSTFC will support include:
- Presenting a recital, masterclass, or paper at a regional, national, or international conference
- Travel for academic research
- Competing in an advanced round of a competition
- Study abroad at organ academies or private study with renowned teachers in Europe (or other country appropriate to the subject)
- Organized visits to important historic organs
- Activities that the OSTFC will not support include:
- Auditioning for festivals, graduate school, or employment
- Volunteering opportunities
- If your proposal is awarded funding and your professional opportunity involves international travel, you are required to register your travel with the University. Upon approval of your funding, but prior to travel, undergraduate students must contact the Office of Academic Affairs to complete the necessary paperwork. Graduate students must register online at http://www.rochester.edu/global/travel/.
Eligibility:
You must be a full-time, matriculated student in a degree program in order to be awarded funding. Projects for the summer following degree completion will not be eligible. Alumni are not eligible for OSTFC funding
